Purchased as

You may use this field to track the purchase process represented in this license. Choose one of the following:

  • OEM — Software was supplied bundled with some hardware, such as an operating system sold pre-installed on a laptop.

  • Retail — License was purchased retail, or in a shrink-wrap package. In Microsoft terminology this is a FPP (full packaged product) purchase.

  • Subscription — License was purchased under a subscription service, such as MSDN.

  • Volume — License was purchased under a volume purchasing agreement, such as a Microsoft Select License agreement.

    tip

    This kind of purchase process has no direct correlation with license type. It would be quite possible, for example, to have a User license type that correctly shows it was Purchased as a Volume purchase.
