Tabular View Next Gen

note

Cloud Cost Optimization has a new version of Tabular View, called Tabular View Next Gen. The version of Tabular View you see depends on which version of Cloud Cost Optimization is enabled for your account. Tabular View Next Gen is available only with the upgraded Cloud Cost Optimization version.

If you see the Show FOCUS names toggle next to the Date Selector, you are using the new Tabular View Next Gen and the upgraded Cloud Cost Optimization version.

You can view the Tabular View from the following pages:

  • Tabular View page (Cloud > Cost Optimization > Tabular View)—This is the top-level tabular view and not specific to any billing center. Tabular View shows all the cloud spend ingested from the cloud provider for the last three years.

  • Billing Centers page (Cloud > Cost Optimization > Billing Centers)— Tabular View is a data table found in the Billing Centers page that gives you a granular view into your cloud costs. Tabular View only shows costs that are scoped to the specific billing center that you are viewing it from. It works at both the top organization level billing center that the user has access to, as well as all child billing centers below that. You can group and filter data, select the dates, and export the data.

Tabular View has several options to control the data shown:

  • Date Selector in Tabular View—Enables you to adjust the time range for the data displayed on the page. Click the date selector to open the picker. After the date selector is set, its configuration is saved as you navigate across other pages.

  • Show FOCUS Names—Enables you to view billing data in the FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS) v1.0 format. FOCUS defines a common structure and naming convention for billing data that helps your organization better understand cost and usage patterns across cloud providers.

  • Filters in Tabular View—Enables you to specify which dimension values to show in the Tabular View and gives you a granular view into your cloud cost. To add filters, click the plus sign (+) next to Add dimension, select the check boxes next to the dimensions that you want to add, and then select the dimension values that you want to use to filter data in the Tabular View.

  • Metrics in Tabular View—Enables you to view different cost and usage values such as List Cost, Billed Cost, Effective Cost, Pricing Quantity, and Consumed Quantity.

    Configure the metrics

You can configure the following metrics in the Table View by clicking the three dots icon:

    • List Cost—The cost calculated by multiplying the List Unit Price by the corresponding Pricing Quantity.

    • Billed Cost—The actual amount that your organization is charged for cloud services, as shown on your invoice for a specific billing period. This value includes all discounts that have been applied by your cloud provider, but it does not amortize any upfront or recurring commitment purchases (such as Reserved Instances or Savings Plans) over multiple months.

    • Effective Cost—The total cost of your cloud usage after all discounts have been applied, and after any upfront or recurring commitment purchases (such as Reserved Instances or Savings Plans) have been amortized over the period they cover.

    • Pricing Quantity—The amount of usage that is multiplied by the list unit price to calculate the list cost, and is determined according to the cloud provider's pricing model.

    • Consumed Quantity—The actual amount of a resource or service used during the billing period, as measured by the cloud provider.

You can show and hide the metrics in the Tabular View based on the spend that you want to see by clicking Show and Hide, respectively.

    note

To view non-FOCUS metrics in the table view, make sure to toggle off the Show FOCUS names option. For more information, see Metrics in Tabular View.
